About us
A project led by the women of the village
In a small village, an ancient craft had been almost forgotten. Many women had energy and time, but lacked work opportunities. One young woman had a dream: to teach the women of the village handicrafts and art. Today this is a project led by simple women, reaching all over the republic.
Since 2016, Mary has trained more than 300 women within the village and beyond. Our team now includes over 25 women and girls, aged 16 to 55, because art is for everyone. Team spirit and family values are our core principles, and our goals know no limits.

Art is for everyone. Macrame reflects our souls and teaches us the value of patience.
Vision & mission
Why we do it
Vision
Our vision is to renew the heritage of macrame by crafting contemporary, stylish designs, handmade by the talented women of Upper Egypt, particularly from Asyut Governorate. It reflects our commitment to blending cultural roots with modern aesthetics.
Mission
Our mission is to bring joy to our customers through unique, meaningful designs crafted with the finest Egyptian cotton, combining precision, artistry and timely execution. Our happiness lies in the joy of the women we work with and their sense of self-worth.
A story from our workshop
Sumaya is a simple woman with three daughters and a son. At first she wore a serious expression and rarely spoke or laughed. After a year in our macrame workshop, she began to laugh. She formed friendships, and told us she wanted to help other struggling women learn to laugh and embrace life once again.
Our story
From nine girls to a workshop of 35
The dream became a reality when Mary began the macrame workshop in May 2016 with nine girls from the village. She started by teaching them about colors, harmony and the intricate details of macrame knots.
2016–2018
In 2016 we established the macrame workshop. By 2018 we had trained over 160 women, in collaboration with Alex Bank, to produce 5,000 Ramadan bags. In 2018 we founded the Macrame Rouh company and crafted 200 macrame wall hangings as gifts from Alex Bank to ambassadors, ministers and officials.
2019–2021
In 2019 our team grew to 17 women and we expanded our range of designs. We also began exporting internationally and taking part in craft exhibitions.
2022–2024
Our team expanded to 25 women and girls, improving their income and productivity. We set up a sewing workshop with machines to produce rugs and baskets, bringing the total number of artisans, women and men, to 35. We also launched a new macrame fashion line, producing larger quantities while keeping product quality, timely delivery and a balance between craftsmanship and scalable production.
